London, Dec 5 (ANI): A prominent UK general practitioner, David Lidgey, who was suffering from depression, left home leaving a note behind saying he had gone 'for a walk', and has not yet returned over the past five months, his wife has said.
The news comes after Welsh manager Gary Speed committed suicide on November 27.
Lidgey's wife, Shona, also called on patients, who were depressed to seek medical help to cure the disease.
"There should be more awareness about men suffering from depression. I get women coming into the surgery saying that their husbands have depression, but that they are too proud or scared to come in. People need to talk about it, because it affects so many people over their lifetimes," The Telegraph quoted Shona, as saying.
Lidgey, who has three young children, disappeared from his home in Downham Market, Norfolk, in the UK, on June 29.
He left behind his possessions, including his car, wallet and mobile phone, after dropping his children to school.
Shona said her husband did not seek help for curing depression, despite her repeated requests, though he helped his depressed patients.
Shona contacted police when Lidgey failed to turn up the next morning.
His computer and mobile suggested that he had not been in contact with anyone before he went missing.
His family has also put up posters in Weymouth and Portsmouth to search for him because he had ties to the area. (ANI)
