London, Dec 3 (ANI): The female guests invited at Silvio Berlusconi's parties were prostitutes, a court heard on Friday.
The former prime minister is currently facing trial after being accused of having sex with an under age prostitute and abuse of office in relation to the parties he threw at his luxury villa, which were attended by dozens of TV starlets and models who he is said to have paid with cars, jewellery and cash.
Police officer Marco Ciacci told the court that three of the 33 women who attended the parties - Iris Berardi, Michelle Conceicao and Karima El Mahroug, known as Ruby the Heartbreaker - were known to be prostitutes, the Telegraph reported.
"There is evidence to show that these three women were actively involved in prostitution," he told prosecutor Antonio Sangermano as the court was shown photographs of El Mahroug in provocative poses, which were seized from a nightclub in Genoa where she lives.
The 75-year-old apparently paid El Mahroug for sex when she attended the parties at his villa in Arcore, when she was just 17 years old and thus a minor.
Berlusconi, who resigned as prime minister last month, is also accused to have abused his office by using his power to have Miss El Mahroug freed from jail when she was detained for theft in May 2010 by wrongly telling the police that she was related to then Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak. (ANI)
