Islamabad, Dec 3 (ANI): A spokesman for Pakistan's Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) has said remarks of the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani about the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) had been misquoted by the media.
"The response could have been more effective if PAF had also joined in. However, it was no fault of PAF. A timely decision could not be taken due to a breakdown of communication with the affected posts and, therefore, a lack of clarity of the situation, at various levels, including the Corps Headquarters and GHQ," the Daily Times quoted the spokesman, as saying.
The November 26 NATO attack had sparked fury in Pakistan, complicating the US-led efforts to ease a crisis in relations with Islamabad before combat troops leave Afghanistan in 2014.
The military, in a statement, said that its response to the NATO strike could have been more effective had it been able to scramble its aircraft in time.
Pakistan claimed the attack was unprovoked, an act of blatant aggression, while US officials said that Pakistani officials had cleared the air strike without realising they had troops in the area. (ANI)
