Pak to 'boycott' Bonn Conference over NATO aerial attack on country's soldiers

Islamabad , Tue, 29 Nov 2011 ANI

Islamabad, Nov 29 (ANI): Pakistan has said it may boycott an international conference on Afghanistan's future in Bonn next week in protest against a NATO cross-border attack that killed up to 28 soldiers there.

Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani, while chairing the Cabinet meeting, announced to summon a joint session of the parliament after the recommendations of the parliamentary committee on National Security to discuss the Mohmand Agency incident and the controversial Memo Gate scandal, The News reports.

Foreign ministers belonging to over 90 countries are expected to attend the Bonn Conference, which is expected to discuss sensitive issues regarding the withdrawal of US and NATO troop from Afghanistan, and entering into dialogues with the Taliban.

The Cabinet agreed that unilateral actions like the Abbottabad incident and last Saturday's NATO attack in Mohmand Agency were "not acceptable".

Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar briefed the Cabinet about the incident and described the ongoing diplomatic efforts to highlight the violation of Pakistan's territorial sovereignty, which is also a violation of the international law. (ANI)
