Washington, Nov 24 (ANI): Pakistan would benefit the most from the Most Favoured Nation (MFN) status given to India by Islamabad, the country's former Finance Minister Shahid Javed Burki has said.
"Pakistan would emerge as the greatest beneficiary out of MFN status to India," The Nation quoted Burki, who is currently Chairman of Pakistan's Institute of Public Policy and former Vice President of the World Bank, as saying.
He also said that trade between the two countries could double from current level of 2.7 billion dollars a year simply by rerouting of goods currently sent via Dubai or through some other channels, the paper said.
Talking about the ongoing economic scenario, Burki said that the country only needed dedicated, honest and true leadership to move forward. The lack of seriousness on the part of people in power is hurting the economy the most.
Burki said that an economic turnaround can take place in just four to five years provided people who are sitting at the helm of the affairs start working in right direction. He also called for the training of the legislators for better policy formulation in coming years. (ANI)
