Islamabad, Nov 22 (ANI): The Pakistan Army has vehemently denied media reports that they were in talks with the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
The News quoted a spokesperson for the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), as saying that the Army was not undertaking any kind of negotiation with the TTP or its affiliated militant outfits.
Such reports are concocted, baseless and unfounded, he added.
Any contemplated negotiation or reconciliation process with militant groups has to be done by the government, the spokesperson insisted.
Last month, Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani had said the country's Army had no objection over the government having a dialogue with the Taliban, adding that he had no intentions of sending the troops to North Waziristan prior to receiving government order.
Kayani further said that he had informed the United States that Pakistan did not require any military aid of any kind, and that there would be no compromise on national sovereignty in bilateral ties of the two countries.
He further said that police and civil intelligence agencies were responsible for internal affairs of the country, rather than the army.
"Army is not the solution of every problem," he added. (ANI)
