US State Department website removes Indian flag citing 'inaccuracies' over Kashmir issue

Washington , Tue, 22 Nov 2011 ANI

Washington, Nov 22 (ANI): The US State Department has removed a map of India from its website, as it allegedly contained inaccuracies that needed to be fixed, spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said.

Besides India, it also removed a map of Pakistan, saying there were inaccurate depictions of a divided Kashmir.

India and Pakistan have fought two wars over Kashmir, and both claim it to be part of their territory.

According to Indian media reports, New Delhi objected that all of Jammu and Kashmir was not shown as part of India, while Pakistan's embassy also took up the issue strongly.

Neither the Indian nor Pakistan maps appeared to show their respective portions of Kashmir as disputed. (ANI)
