Washington, Nov 21(ANI): US First Lady Michelle Obama and Second Lady Dr. Jill Biden were booed by a section of crowd at the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) season finale at the Homestead-Miami Speedway.
NASCAR is a family-owned and -operated business venture that sanctions and governs multiple auto racing sports events.
As the announcer called both ladies to deliver the "most famous words in motorsports," telling drivers to start their engines, ESPN video recorded loud booing sounds from the stands.
Retired army sergeant Andrew Barry, who was wounded in the Iraq and Afghan War, however, received resounding applause from the audience, ABC News reports.
A source travelling with Obama denied the incident took place and added that event was a"loud chaotic program with jets flying over and tons of noise."
Michelle described NASCAR as "amazing in terms of its support, not just today, but every day, for military families."
She also participated in a barbeque for military families at the event.
"Everyone around the country is focused on you. And this isn't just an effort today. Jill and I through Joining Forces, we want to make this a part of the dialogue in this country forever. ... We want you to feel that appreciation and that gratitude so that you know your sacrifice is not in vain," Michelle said. (ANI)
