Islamabad, Nov 16 (ANI): Former Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said he had resigned from the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) because he was being allegedly forced to give diplomatic immunity to alleged American CIA agent Raymond Davis.
Insisting that his decision had nothing to with the ministry, Qureshi said the Raymond Davis incident had taken place on January 27 and he had resigned on January 30 in the presence of President Asif Zardari and Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani.
He lashed out at the PPP leadership and said that neither Zardari nor Gilani had the solutions to Pakistan's external and internal problems.
"They do not have the substance or intellectual depth to help the country solve its problems. I believe in transparency and transparent politics. Now is not the time to save your seat, but it is the time to save Pakistan," the Express Tribune quoted Qureshi, as saying.
"People think that they are smarter than Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, your political vision is not even equal to her shoes," he added.
He said that he was with Nawaz Sharif in the past, and that he still maintains "excellent" relations with him.
"I met him in the past and will meet him tomorrow if he asks me to."
Meanwhile, Qureshi has sought support of the sitting Assembly members belonging to the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) to decide his future political course of action. (ANI)
