Baghdad, Nov 12(ANI): A travel company is offering Britons tours of war-torn Iraq claiming it 'is 120 percent safe' and can 'put a smile on the faces' of travellers as it houses spectacular archaeological attractions.
"Most people have a negative image of Iraq. They think of kidnappings and killings. This is not the case," the Daily Mail quoted a travel firm, Al-Rafidain's Chief Executive Fadhil Al-Saaegh,as saying.
"Iraq has 12,000 recognised archaeological sites and there are probably another 6,000 waiting to be recognised. There is no other country on earth that can match this," he added.
Scheduled passenger flights between Baghdad and London resumed in April for the first time since 1990.
"It's true that there have been few British tourists up until now but I am always ambitious and I will keep trying to get them to come. I will never give up," Al-Saaegh said.
Al-Saaegh's company currently offers tour package ranging from three to 18 days.
A seven-day tour, which costs about 1200 pounds, includes a two- day stay in Baghdad and a visit to Basra, which was earlier controlled by British troops. (ANI)
