Washington, Nov 12(ANI): A new poll has revealed that 65 percent of respondents in the US support military action in countries like Pakistan and Yemen, which are believed to be terrorists' safe havens, as compared to 22 percent, who disapproved using force.

The CBS News poll also showed that 42 percent of Americans believed that their country would win the war against terror, while nine percent said that the converse was true.

The poll results come ahead of the CBS News/National Journal Republican presidential debate on national security and foreign policy in South Carolina.

Thirty-six percent of Americans said the Obama administration's policies have made the country safe, 34 percent said they were ineffective and 19 percent said they had endangered the country's safety.

According to the poll, 53 percent of respondents approved the killing of an American citizen abroad if he or she is a known terrorist following the killing of American citizen and terrorist Anwar al-Awlaki in Yemen.

Over three in four Americans approve Obama's decision to withdraw US troops from Iraq by the end of this year.

The poll also showed that two in three respondents in the US felt the Iraq War was not worth the cost, as compared to only 24 percent who felt it was.
