Aden (Yemen), Nov 10(ANI): An extremist group in Yemen has announced that a film will be produced documenting the life of the slain US-born cleric Anwar al-Awlaki, and it will include a previously unknown message to Americans.
The group said that the film will be produced in both Arabic and English, and will highlight his role in reviving the rite of jihad in the hearts of many Muslim youths.
The film will be produced by Sada al-Malahem, the media arm of Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP).
"The film will include a video, broadcast for the first time and titled - 'Message for the American people'-recorded in English by Sheikh Anwar before his martyrdom," the group said in a statement.
Awlaki was killed in a CIA drone attack in a remote Yemeni town in September.
He was linked to the 2009 Christmas Day "underwear bomber" plot - a narrowly foiled bid to blow up a passenger jet approaching Detroit.
He was also linked to the failed Times Square bomb attempt in May last year.
According to US officials, Awlaki was a senior talent recruiter and motivator, who had also become "operational" as a planner and trainer "for Al-Qaeda and all of its franchises". (ANI)
