Islamabad, Tue, 08 Nov 2011 ANI

Islamabad, Nov 8 (ANI): Pakistan Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani and his Chinese counterpart Wen Jiabao have expressed their willingness to further strengthen bilateral ties in economic, defence and energy sectors.

The two leaders, who met on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit, discussed strategic and economic cooperation between their countries, The Express Tribune reports.

They discussed matters relating to agriculture, power generation and finance besides reviewing progress on Sino-Pak bilateral ties. The two sides also discussed the means to carry out communication projects, including railway and road links and fibre optic.

Gilani sought investment from Chinese companies in different areas and stressed the need for making efforts to realise the full potential of bilateral trade.

Wen assured Gilani of China's commitment to further strengthening relations with Pakistan in all fields.

Both leaders were of the view that the two nations were against terrorism and would continue to cooperate with each other to eliminate this threat.

Gilani said it was time to address the global economic crisis and find a way to counter its impact on growing economies. (ANI)
