Cairo, Oct 29 (ANI): Egyptian human rights activists have accused guards at a Cairo prison of torturing an inmate to death.
The Scotsman quoted activists as saying that the death of 23-year-old Essam Atta, at a Cairo hospital on Thursday, is an indication that Egypt's new rulers have not made much fforts to reform the security forces since the ousting of Hosni Mubarak.
Egyptian authorities, however, have reportedly denied allegations that the guards was involved in the torture, which allegedly led to Atta's death.
Government officials and state media have said that Atta died of a severe drop in blood pressure and heart failure resulting from drug poisoning. (ANI)
