Beijing, Oct 25(ANI): China today said that it would work with India to consolidate ties after Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh spoke positively of the relations between the two countries.
"We've noticed the recent comments by Prime Minister (Manmohan) Singh. China would like to work with India to consolidate and enhance our bilateral strategic and cooperative partnership," Xinhua quoted Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu, as saying.
"As important neighbors of each other, China and India have maintained a good momentum in developing healthy and stable relations," she added.
Jiang's comment comes after Dr. Singh admitted that India and China have long-standing border problems, but he hopes that both the countries would find out ways and means to resolve the problems.
Interacting with mediapersons on a flight back to India after attending the India-Brazil-South Africa (IBSA) summit in Pretoria, South Africa, Dr. Singh had said: "India and China are neighbours, we have problems, border problems, a long standing problem, but it is my sincere hope that it is possible for us to find ways and means in which two neighbours can live in peace and amity."
"Despite the persistence of the border problems, our both countries have agreed that peace and tranquility should be maintained along with border and therefore by and large sometimes, something appears in the newspapers in our country, something appears in the newspapers in China that I think invites comments but overall our relations are quite good," he had added.
