Mumbai, Oct.23 (ANI): Pakistani actress Veena Malik has announced plans to sponsor education of a girl child and her day-to-day needs in Mumbai.
Speaking to mediapersons here, Malik said that she wished to be actively involved in social work.
"I have sponsored this child from an institution named 'Anandalaya' (an institution of a social organisation). Her name is Payal Kumble and adoption is different, sponsoring is another thing. I have sponsored her in which her education, her daily life and until she gets settled in her life, completes her education and gets married, she would be my responsibility," said Malik.
She also said that Payal was an introvert kid although she had a lot of friends of her age.
Malik as associated with various social causes and was also a representative of the World Health Organisation (WHO).
"Yes why not. If my friends, any of my friends, whether they are not in profession or anyone from my family or belong to any place, I would suggest them that please one can not help the entire world but an individual can improve the life of a few, so there is nothing like that. So, I would definitely suggest all my friends and fans that if you can contribute a bit in somebody's life then you must do it," she said.
On being asked by the mediapersons whether the kid would be staying with her or not, she told that nursing a kid was a great responsibility and she was not yet ready to adopt one.
Malik, who was born, as Zahida Malik is an actress, model and a comedian, has worked with news channels and in movies (both in India and Pakistan). She has gained many accolades and has been honoured for her performances.
Malik made her first appearance opposite Shaan (a Pakistani actor) and Zara Sheikh (a Pakistani model and actress) in the movie 'Tere Pyar Mein' in the year 2000. (ANI)
