Islamabad, Oct 21(ANI): Pakistan Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar has acknowledged that terror safe havens exist on the Pakistani side of the border with Afghanistan, but steered clear of using the 'H-word' despite having been questioned about the Haqqani network a number of times.
Speaking at a joint press conference with US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in Islamabad, Khar said that safe havens exist on both sides of the Af-Pak border.
"We are keen to cooperate with you [the United States] and other countries" in the fight against terrorism, she maintained.
Clinton called for greater intelligence sharing and military cooperation by Pakistan in the ongoing war on terror.
Khar said that Pakistan is ready to cooperate in intelligence sharing and other fields, but went on to add that Pakistan parliament is the authority to take any decision, including that on military action.
She also stated that Pakistan would be guided by national interest while taking any action in the war on terror.
Reiterating Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani's comments made on Thursday, Khar said: "We must explore and give peace a chance on both side of the border."
The Foreign Minister, notably, did not use the 'Haqqani' word even once throughout the press conference, although she was asked a number of questions related to the militant group and Pakistan's stand on the issue. (ANI)
