Lahore, Oct 19(ANI): The Central Shoora of the Jamaat-e-Islami has urged the Pakistan Government to withdraw its decision to accord the Most Favoured Nation (MFN) status to India, and extend its full support to the Kashmir liberation movement as a party in the Kashmir dispute.
Through a resolution, the Shoora said that Pakistan's weak Kashmir policy, besides the apathy of the United Nations and the world community, was responsible for the continuing brutalities of the occupation forces on the Kashmiris.
The Shoora expressed its concern over India's military exercises and alleged unusual troops movement on Pakistan's eastern border, The Nation reports.
It claimed that India, under the patronage of the United States, was preparing a plot against Pakistan's solidarity while Islamabad was keen to expand trade.
A second resolution adopted by the Shoora called upon the government to withdraw the case against Malik Mumtaz Hussain Qadri, the self-confessed assassin of former Punjab Governor Salmaan Taseer, under public interest.
Qadri, one of Taseer"s own elite security force protectors, had shot the then Punjab Governor dead on January 4 because of his vocal opposition to the blasphemy law that was recently used to sentence a Pakistani-Christian woman, Asia Bibi, to death.
An ATC in Rawalpindi had sentenced Qadri to death on October 1, saying that it was a heinous crime and there was no justification to it.
The JI Shoora urged President Asif Ali Zardari to announce amnesty for Qadri, like many other cases, especially under the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO).
It also urged the government to make a categorical announcement that the Blasphemy law would not be changed, and said that Europe and the US should be told to stop criticizing this law for being an internal matter.
It said that Mumtaz Qadri had gunned down ex-Punjab Governor Salman Taseer for criticizing the Blasphemy law in line with the sentiments of the masses.
In a third resolution, the JI Shoora expressed complete solidarity with the Palestinians struggling for liberation, and said that the way to liberation passed through Jehad.
It said that the talks of the Palestinians leaders with the Zionists during the last 64 years had only sabotaged the Palestinians' freedom movement.
The Shoora appealed to the Palestinians to unite on the one point agenda of independence and adopt a unified strategy for achieving the goal.
It also urged the Egyptian government to reject the policies of the former dictator and announce end of the Gaza siege and opening of the Rafah border. (ANI)
