London, Oct 11 (ANI): A 38-year-old bar owner, who was wrongly named by American student Amanda Knox as the killer of her British roommate Meredith Kercher, has condemned her as a 'fantastic actress'.
Patrick Lumumba was arrested and spent two weeks in prison after Knox told detectives that 'Patrick killed Meredith'
The claim, however, turned out to be false and Italian prosecutors alleged Knox had made it up to throw suspicion off herself.
During a telephone interview with the Daily Mail, Lumumba said he was shocked to hear the court verdict and called Knox a 'fantastic actress'.
"I feel so angry. When I heard the verdict I was shocked for poor Meredith. I have always said that Amanda is a fantastic actress and that's what she will always be for me," the paper quoted Lumumba, as saying.
"I spent two weeks in jail for something I didn't do because Amanda said I was the killer. I will never forget when the police banged on my door and took me away," he said.
"Meredith was the first victim in all this and I was the second. Because of what she said I lost my livelihood, I lost my job and now I have nothing - just my family, which is the most important thing for me," he added.
Lumumba was eventually released after a Swiss professor came forward to say he could not have been the killer, as he had been a customer in the bar on the night of the murder. (ANI)
