2011 Nobel Peace Prize goes to three women

Oslo, Oct.7 (ANI): The Nobel Peace Prize for 2011 has been awarded to three women-Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Liberian activist Leymah Gbowee and Yemeni activist Tawakkul Karman.

All three were given the prize in recognition of their "non-violent struggle for the safety of women and for women's rights to full participation in peace-building work", the Washington Post quoted a statement issued by the Nobel Committee, as saying. (ANI)
