Vienna, Oct 5 (ANI): India and Austria on Wednesday signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoU), one on technology specific cooperation in the field of railways and the second on cooperation in science and technology, during the visit of President Pratibha Devisingh Patil.
The MoU on technology specific cooperation in the field of railways was signed between the Ministry of Railways (Government of India) and Federal Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology of the Republic of Austria.
This will enable the extension of India's rail capacity, extension of rail lines, modernisation of infrastructure and rolling stock. The agreement also includes technical assistance by providing specialised professionals, technicians and training of railways staff. It also will lead to supply of railway equipment and railway material.
The two sides had an agreement in this regard earlier that expired in May 2010. So to continue the cooperation between the two nations, this agreement was signed today.
Ambassador Dinkar Khullar and Andreas Reichhardt, Vice Minister, Federal Ministry of Transport signed this MoU.
The MoU on cooperation in science and technology will be open to all fields of research of mutual interest.
Ambassador Dinkar Khullar and Prof Christoph Kratky, President Austrian Science Fund, signed this MoU between Department of Science, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India and Austrian Science Fund to develop further cooperation in science and technology. By Sanjay Mohan (ANI)
