London, Oct 1 (ANI): BBC drivers reportedly get paid 54,000 pounds a year.
The Corporation has reached an agreement with British union representatives for minimum rates for its freelance staff, despite pledging to slash costs by 20 percent, the Mirror reports.
The rates apply to all those working on the BBC's in-house drama and also includes 58,000 pounds a year for an Âelectrician, while 70,000 pounds a year for a camera operator.
But Gerry Morrissey, leader of the Bectu trade union, said he remained "disappointed", adding: This has given us something to build on."
BBC chiefs also agreed that any staff currently paid at rates above the new deal will not have their wages cut.
A change from five 11-hour days and one six-hour day to five 12-hour days is also on the table. (ANI)
