Kim Jong-il spends 120,000 pounds on pet food while rest of country starves!(Re-issue)

Pyongyang , Sat, 01 Oct 2011 ANI

Pyongyang, Sept 30(ANI): North Korea's dictator Kim Jong-il spends upto 120,000 pounds annually on feeding his pet dogs.

The revelation is one among several startling allegations made by a South Korean lawmaker, Yoon Sang Hyun regarding Jong-il's spending, in the report to the country's parliament.

The revelation comes in the wake of reports that a quarter of North Korean population is suffering due to serious food shortages, and a third of children under five are victimized by malnutrition.

He said Jong-il also imported several dozen Russian horses and bought ten US jet skis for his son Kim Jong Eun, The Sun reports.

He added that most of the luxury goods were purchased through China, which is North Korea's major ally, and Russia.

United Nations Security Council sanctions, which were imposed after North Korea conducted missile and nuclear tests, ban the export of luxury items to the country.

Hyun said Jong-il purchased 600 bottles of French wine, which were consumed at parties for senior party and military officials.

"The luxury life for Kim Jong-il's family goes on regardless of the worsening suffering of North Koreans amid the third-generation succession," Hyun said. (ANI)
