Washington, Sept 23(ANI): A top US senator has urged Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to include the militant Haqqani network in a terror blacklist in the wake of the latest Afghan attacks.
Senate Intelligence Committee Chairwoman Dianne Feinstein's comments came after the top US military official, Admiral Mike Mullen, said the Haqqani network "acts as a veritable arm of Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence agency," The Dawn reports.
"I request that the State Department take the additional step of listing the network as a Foreign Terrorism Organization and look forward to receiving your response," Feinstein said.
"It conducts attacks against US targets and personnel in Afghanistan, and poses a continuing threat to American, Afghan, and allied personnel and interests," she added.
Washington had earlier blamed the Haqqani network for the Kabul US embassy attack, a June attack on the Inter-Continental Hotel in Kabul, and a September 10 truck bombing in Afghanistan's Wardak province.
