Paris, Sept 22(ANI): A Frenchwoman, who wears an Islamic face veil, wants to run for the 2012 French presidential elections.
Kenza Drider, who wears veil despite being banned in the country, said she wants to champion the rights of all French women.
She had earlier said the law banning veils in public places in France violates fundamental rights of the citizens, Express.co.uk reports.
However, the law's supporters, including President Nicolas Sarkozy, defended the move, saying the veils imprison women.
Drider said she plans to declare her candidature for the election on September 23 in Meaux, which is run by Sarkozy's political ally Jean-Francois Cope, who supported the veil ban. (ANI)
