Melbourne, Sept 18 (ANI): The Australian Defence Force has been hit by by a fresh sex scandal after a young female navy member claimed that she was allegedly raped aboard a mine hunting ship.
According to the Daily Telegraph, Harbourside Local Area Command is looking into the report of a sexual attack at a Sydney naval base on August 30.
A 21-year-old Navy able seaman told detectives that she was confronted by a 24-year-old crewmember and 'sexually assaulted'.
The incident was reported to the police after the Defence Force investigators came to know about it on September 9.
"We're still in the preliminary stages of this investigation, gathering all the information and deciding on an appropriate course of action," News.com.au quoted Acting Superintendent Paul McDonald as saying.
This is the second time in this year that the Australian Defence Force is embroiled in such a scandal, with earlier allegation surfacing in July. (ANI)
