Kuala Lumpur, Sept 18(ANI): A flash mob of about 50 Bhangra dancers in colourful and vibrant Punjabi costumes enthralled onlookers yuat Kuala Lumpur Sentral railway station to mark the joint National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations.
"The idea is to show what Malaysia is all about. The Punjabis might be a small community in the country but we are very much a part of Malaysia," the Star quoted event organiser Bavinder Kaur, as saying.
She added that the troupe practised two hours every day at least three times a week over the past two months for the performance.
Choreographer Avtar Singh said she enjoyed being a part of the flash mob.
"People were taking photos of us when we took the train from Bangsar," he said.
Visitor Syarifah Radziah Syed Khairuddin was fascinated by the performance that she also joined in the dance.
"It's not everyday that such an event happens. It was like a Bollywood movie. You could just dance together no matter what your race is," she said.
The term flash mob was coined in 2003 to denote a group of people who assemble suddenly to perform at a public place for a brief time, and then disperse for purpose of entertaining crowd or to celebrate an auspicious event.
