Beijing, Sun, 18 Sep 2011 ANI

Beijing,Sept 18(ANI): Over 500 villagers in East China's Zhejiang Province protested for the third day against a solar panel manufacturer for emitting harmful waste, which has killed large amounts of fish in a nearby river.

Protestors forcefully entered premises of a factory, Zhejiang Jinko Solar Co, Ltd in Haining, and vandalized the offices before police arrived.

Haining's environmental protection bureau Deputy Head Chen Hongming said the factory's waste disposal had failed the pollution tests since April.

The organization ignored the warning to control pollution, Hongming added.

The company was not immediately available for comment on the issue, Xinhua reports.

Zhejiang Jinko Solar Co, Ltd, founded in 2006, is a subsidiary of JinkoSolar Holding Co, Ltd, listed on the New York Stock Exchange since 2010.

The company manufactures solar products like mono- and multi-crystalline photovoltaics panels, cells, and wafers. (ANI)
