Berlin, Sept 17(ANI): German police is baffled by a rare case of an unidentified, English-speaking teenaged boy, who has claimed before the Berlin authorities that he has been living in the forests alongwith his father for the past five years after his mother died in a car accident.
The boy, who identified himself as 17- year old Ray, and did not know his surname, told police that he came to Berlin on foot following a compass' direction as per his father's advice.
He said his father had died last fortnight, and that he had buried him in a ditch, the Independent reports.
A police spokesperson said officials are trying to establish his true identity and had informed their counterparts across Europe about the case.
"We are still trying to find out who this boy is. He had no passport or identification papers and was unable to say where he came from," a Berlin police spokesman said.
Police said the boy, who is believed to be physically fit, has been put at displaced young people's asylum.
"He is still in shock, we want to make sure he is left in peace," a police spokesman said.
Public reaction in Germany was suspicious of the boy's claims.
One blogger said a compass was not required in Germany for finding a way out of forests.
"Anyone who is stuck in the depths of even the deepest countryside needs only to walk for the maximum of an hour before reaching a village," a blogger said. (ANI)
