London, Sept 17 (ANI): Michelle Obama's anti-obesity campaign has proved to be a success yet again as a major restaurant operator in the US is introducing a "PG" system for their menus.
Darden Restaurants, which owns 1900 restaurants in 49 states nationwide, is said to be coming up with provisions, which will require children to obtain parental permission when they order chips with a meal, thereby making fruit, vegetable side dishes and low-fat milk the standard option.
Due to growing concerns regarding health and following moves by McDonalds' and Burger King to offer fruits, the restaurant will also reduce calories and sodium in meals for children by 20 per cent over the next decade.
Darden's Olive Garden, Red Lobster, LongHorn Steakhouse and Bahama Breeze chains will also each offer at least one children's meal option of less than 600 calories, after Olive Garden had previously been criticised by nutritionists for its popular "never ending pasta bowl" offer. (ANI)
