Malik says some Taliban groups have invited him for talks

Islamabad , Sat, 17 Sep 2011 ANI

Islamabad, Sept 17(ANI): Pakistan Interior Minister Rehman Malik has said that some Taliban groups have invited him for talks, according to a newspaper report.

Malik made these comments while talking to journalists outside the Parliament House on Friday, The News reports.

He also said that some terrorist elements wanted to destroy Pakistan and its youth, but the democratic government would foil their nefarious designs.

Responding to a question, Malik said that he did not have links with any terrorist organisation, but with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), which is a political party.

All out efforts would be made to maintain law and order in Karachi, he added.

"I will be responsible if any target killer is released on my watch," said Malik.

Rehman Malik also called on Awami National Party (ANP) chief Asfandyar Wali Khan and discussed the ongoing targeted operation in Karachi.

During the meeting, he said that the government was utilising all its resources in across-the-board indiscriminate action against target killers in Karachi in order to ensure peace in the city. (ANI)
