Islamabad, Sept 17(ANI): The Pakistan Army and NATO have said that they do not have confirmed details about the reported killing of Al-Qaeda's chief of operations in Pakistan, Abu Hafs al Shahri, in the country's Waziristan tribal region this week.
Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Major General Athar Abbas did not confirm this development, saying that the Pakistan Army was not in knowledge of the reported killing.
"Not confirmed," Abbas responded, when asked by The Nation regarding confirmation of Shahri's death in a drone strike.eports suggest that Shahri was one of the four militants killed in the only drone attack in Pakistan's North Waziristan Agency this month.
When telephonically approached by the paper, Oana Lungescu, NATO spokesperson at the headquarters in Brussels, said that she could not confirm Shahri's killing, as NATO was not in knowledge of this development.
"We're gathering the necessary information on this and any confirmed details have not been arrived as yet. I can say anything after getting knowledge about the privy details," she added.
The spokesperson also said that NATO did not have any relevant information whether or not al Shahri was al-Qaeda's operational chief in Pakistan. "We can't say anything as of now," the paper quoted her, as saying. (ANI)
