Dubai,Sept 17(ANI): Kerala has vowed to provide hassle-free nursing staff to the UAE and protect Indian nurses from fraudulent recruitment rackets.
It has established a public sector- owned recruitment facility to curb exploitation of many nurses by illegal agencies.
Some nurses from Kerala were forced into prostitution by illegal hiring agencies, the Gulf News reports.
Kerala State Minister of Health Adoor Prakash discussed the staffing requirements with Dubai's senior health ministry officials ahead of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) that will be signed in India next week.
UAE hospitals are currently facing a shortage of professional nurses and doctors, which reflects a worldwide trend, a senior Dubai Health Authority official said.
Keralites constitute 60 per cent of Indian population of two million in the UAE.(ANI)
