Islamabad, Sept 10(ANI): Mark Siegel, a US journalist and former Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto's lobbyist, has decided to become the prosecution's witness against former President Pervez Musharraf in her assassination case.
Seigel, who recorded his statement in the United States, claimed that Benazir received a threatening call from Musharraf in London, The Express Tribune reports.
Musharraf had warned Benazir not to come to Pakistan before the 2008 elections, as the government would only provide security to her, if she came after the polls.
According to Seigel, Benazir had emailed him after an attempt at her life in Karachi, saying that Musharraf and his allies would be responsible if she was murdered.
Seigel's statement will be used during the case hearing at a special anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Saturday.
Last month, the court ordered the seizure of Musharraf's properties and freezing of his bank accounts after his continued refusal to respond to the accusations.
Earlier, the court declared Musharraf, who has been accused of threatening Bhutto and trying to influence post-murder investigations, a proclaimed offender in the assassination case. (ANI)
