New York, Sept 7 (ANI): US Defense Secretary Leon Panetta has said the potential threat for another terrorist attack, following a decade of war with al Qaeda after the 9/11 attacks, still "remains very real."
Panetta made the comment after visiting the National September 11 Memorial park and museum with Mayor Michael Bloomberg, CBS News reports.
Insisting that Americans must remain vigilant against the threat of another successful al Qaeda attack, he said: "The potential for that kind of attack remains very real."
Panetta also said that although many of al-Qaeda terrorists, including the 9/11 mastermind Osama bin Laden was killed, the nature of the terrorist threat has evolved to the point where al Qaeda "nodes" outside of Afghanistan and Pakistan are now the most dangerous, the paper said.
"Yemen has risen to the top of the list," he jaded.
The Septebber 11 attacks had killed nearly 3,000 people, including 184 at the Pentagon. (ANI)
