Anticancer tea fertilized with panda faeces not proven

New Delhi, Tue, 06 Sep 2011 ANI

New Delhi, Sept 6 (ANI): A Chinese teacher's claim that he can cultivate an anticancer tea by using panda faeces as fertilizer has come into question as it has not been proven.

According to the Tianfu Morning Paper, the Sichuan University teacher claimed that panda poo is extremely nutritious and rich in bamboo, which can prevent cancer, China Daily reported.

The teacher said that using the faeces as fertilizer can double the anticancer effect of the tea.

Experts however have said that although panda faeces can be used as a tea fertilizer, its anticancer effect has not been proven, and that "Panda Tea" may only be a publicity stunt.

The "Panda Tea" has been priced at about 220,000 yuan per catty (0.5 kilogram), 10 times the price of the most expensive bamboo-leave green tea in the current market. (ANI)
