New York, London, Sept 4 (ANI): Vogue Nippon (Japan) has been criticised by fashion critics for photographing American model Crystal Renn with her eyes taped back.
The reason for doing so is yet unclear - it may be to give the brunette model a more unusual and stylised look or an attempt to appeal to Asian readers.
The taping was captured on a behind-the-scenes video for the shoot, which was styled by the eccentric Italian stylist and editor Anna Della Russo. Renn was dressed in Dolce and Gabbana from head-to-toe.
"We are huge fans of both Anna Dello Russo and Crystal Renn. As such, an editorial styled by ADR and starring Renn should be something we're really into," the New York Daily News quoted criticsbehind the fashion site Stylite as saying.
"We're not," the critics stated.
The site has also criticised American Vogue of styling model Karlie Kloss to make her appear more Asian in a Mario Testino photo shoot in China and Paris Vogue for using a 10-year-old in a sexy photo spread, referring to a piece of jewelry as "slave earrings" and shooting British model Lara Stone in blackface.
