Multan, Sept 1(ANI): Pakistan wants good relations with the United States on the basis of mutual respect and equality, Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has said.
Talking to media representatives in Multan, Gilani admitted that Pakistan's ties with the US had become strained following the Raymond Davis incident and the US' unilateral operation that killed Osama bin Laden in his lair in Abbottabad.
The two countries are presently holding talks, but it would take some time to improve relations with the US, Dunya TV quoted the prime minister, as saying.
In reference to the recent militant attack from Afghanistan side in Pakistan's Chitral area, Gilani said that both countries had suffered losses in the ongoing fight against militancy.
He said that ties between Pakistan and Afghanistan had improved in their effort to fight the common enemy, adding that, however, some forces wanted to hurt the relationship between both nations. (ANI)
