Balochistan Shiite Council demands Quetta be handed over to Pak Army

Quetta, Thu, 01 Sep 2011 ANI

Quetta, Sept 1(ANI): The Balochistan Shiite Council (BSC) has demanded that Quetta, the provincial capital, be handed over to the Pakistan Army to maintain law and order there.

More than 600 dead bodies have been collected during last three years in Quetta, the BSC said.

Talking to media persons at Qandhari Imam Bargah, BSC President Syed Ashraf Zaidi said that despite pointing out sensitive places to police repeatedly, no fool proof security arrangements were made, which is a loudly speaking open proof of the failure of the government.

He alleged that people belonging to banned terrorist outfits had been recruited in the police, adding that this was the main cause that the culprits were not arrested.

"The Chief justice should take suo moto notice over ongoing saddening incidents of violence in Quetta, while the government must hand over the city to army for maintaining law and order," Syed Ashraf Zaidi demanded.

Leaders of the Hazara Qaumi Jirga, the Shiite Ulema Council and the Majlis Wehdat-e-Musalmin were also present on the occasion. (ANI)
