Thousands expected to join temple to celebrate Hindu festival in Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur, Aug 30(ANI): The Sri Sakthi Vinayagar temple in Brickfields will celebrate a major Hindus festival, Vinayagar Sathurthi.

 

About 5,000 people are expected to join in prayer programmes that would be held from 3 a.m. followed by the main pooja at 7p.m., temple President S.K.K. Naidu said.

 

Naidu further said there would be street performances, drum beats, fire dances to celebrate the festival, the Star reports.

 

Vinayagar Sathurthi is one of the festivals celebrated by Hindus worldwide to mark the birthday of the elephant-headed Ganesha, who is widely worshipped as the god of wisdom, prosperity and good fortune. (ANI)
