Islamabad, August 30(ANI): The British High Commissioner in Pakistan, Adam Thomson, has clarified that Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain has neither been arrested nor have any restrictions been made on his movement by the British police.
"Reports of Altaf Hussain's arrest are false," the Dawn quoted Thomson, as saying.
When inquired about the letter sent by the MQM chief to former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, he replied: "You should ask Altaf Hussain about it."
He also refused to comment on MQM member Nasreen Jalil's letter.
"We wish to see Pakistan developing and stable at every step, and Britain should not be dragged into Pakistan's internal affairs, but it's true that the political situation in Pakistan is interesting," said Thomson.
Talking about the assassination of MQM leader Imran Farooq, the High Commissioner said that the Scotland Yard was proactively investigating the murder case and would reach a final conclusion soon.
"Imran Farooq's murder investigation will be completed soon," said Thomson.
Farooq, a founding member of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), had died from stab wounds and head injuries after attackers pounced on him as he returned from work on September 16, 2010. (ANI)
