Beijing, Aug 30(ANI): Twenty two trapped miners have been rescued from a flooded mine in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province.
The first six of the 19 rescued miners said "thank you" in loud voice when they were lifted out of the mine. Two of them even walked out of the tramcar supported by rescuers.
According to rescue team, 19 miners were trapped in the highest position, who survived on dripping water underground in the past 165 hours, the Xinhua news agency reports.
Rescuers are still searching for the three missing miners.
The flooding occurred when 45 miners were working in a pit of the Hengtai Coal Mining Co. in Boli County of Qitaihe City.
The accident happened after workers mistakenly drilled into a neighbouring minehe rescue team has pumped out over 130,000 cubic meters of water so far lowering the water level to 36 meters in a flooded mine.
According to the local work safety bureau, the provincial government ordered the mine to stop production in 2007 but the owner restarted production without permission on August 16. (ANI)
