Indian booze flowing freely under law enforcers' noses in Pak Punjab

Lahore, Aug 29(ANI): Various liquor shops have reportedly been established near police stations in Pakistan's Punjab province ahead of Eid ul-Fitr, a Muslim festival that marks the end of Ramadan.

 

According to the Nation, liquor shops have been set up near Danewal and Saddar police stations in Vehari District.

 

Indian brands of liquor are also available is some homeopathic stores, which are openly supplying liquor to consumers.

 

The report also said some police officers and influential persons get imported wine with full security and protocol.

 

District Police Officer Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, however, claimed that his department has been keeping a strict vigil.

 

"Our policies regarding contrabands are very strict not only for the drug peddlers, but for the black sheep in the police department," Rizvi said.

 

"The police officials are instructed to keep an eye on suspects and to build a monitoring system at the entry and exit points of the city to check the movement of liquor especially during Eid," he added. (ANI)
