Pak, US should not let 'isolated' incidents affect bilateral ties: Zardari

Islamabad, Mon, 29 Aug 2011 ANI

Islamabad, Aug 29(ANI): Pakistan and United States must clearly define and follow mutually agreed terms of engagement to avoid operational irritants that affect bilateral relations, Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari has said.

Zardari said this after meeting US senators Robert P Casey, Sheldon Whitehouse, Michael Bennet and Richard Blumenthal in Islamabad.

"The president reiterated that the two countries should not let some isolated incidents affect their equation and to undo the efforts of building a multifaceted and long-term relationship," the Express Tribune quoted Zardari's spokesperson Farhatullah Babar, as saying.

Zardari also called for exercising restraints by both countries in issuing any statement that could potential impact the relationship. (ANI)
