Lahore, August 26(ANI): The Pakistan Federal Investigation Agency's special investigation team and the Punjab police have jointly launched a probe in the abduction case of Shahbaz Taseer, son of slain former Punjab Governor Salmaan Taseer.

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has assured that the government would take every possible measure for the recovery of Shahbaz, and that he would be found soon.

Shahbaz was kidnapped from Lahore's Gulburg area on Friday, Geo TV reports.

According to police, Shahbaz was travelling on his regular route from his residence to his office, when he was stopped by four men travelling in a car and on a motorcycle. He was pulled out of his vehicle and his mobile phones and laptop were thrown back in his car by the kidnappers.

After receiving news of Shahbaz's abduction, police rushed to the crime scene and surrounded the area.

Sources said that he was travelling with his friend, who was later released by the kidnappers, and informed the police about the abduction.

Meanwhile, police have apprehended two suspects in connection with Shahbaz's abduction, the report said, adding that the accused are said to be involved in chasing him. (ANI)
