Kuala Lumpur, Aug 22 (ANI): A 75-year-old Indian-origin woman, who is partially blind, deaf and ill, is desperately hoping to return to her homeland, but is undergoing a tough time after losing her passport in Malaysia.
C. Narayani, originally from Kerala, came to Malaysia 16 years ago after both her daughters married locals.
After losing her passport, the lady did not report the matter fearing that she would be jailed or fined, The Star reports.
Narayani's nephew K. Balan said that she could only speak in her native tongue Malayalam and was very eager to return to India.
"Due to the current amnesty programme, we managed to get her registered with the state Immigration department which has also approved her return to India. We then went to the Indian High Commission in Jalan Duta but were flatly denied by the authorities who are insisting that we go back to India and find a copy of Narayani's passport," he added.
"She is just a sickly old woman who means no harm and just wants to return home," he said, adding that the only documents the family had were the passports of the two daughters and their marriage certificates that have Narayani's name written on them.(ANI)
