London, Aug 21(ANI): About 60,000 people are expected to celebrate Hindu festival Janmashtami over the next two days in Hertfordshire, the United Kingdom.
Janmashtami festival celebrates the birth of Hindu deity Lord Krishna.
About 1500 volunteers will organize the festival at Bhaktivedanta Manor Temple.
Organizers of the festival said that it is one of the largest festivals of its kind outside India.
The celebrations will include dancing, music and drama performances, and serving 65,000 plates of free vegetarian food.
The festival will also witness the launch of the not-for-profit Ahimsa Dairy Foundation, which sells milk from cows.
"This is a festival of peace in what are troubled times. Krishna protected cows as sacred animals and we are delighted to be celebrating the cow at this year's festival," BBC quoted Bhaktivedanta Manor Temple President Srutidharma Da, as saying. (ANI)
