Lahore, Aug 15(ANI): The Pakistan People's Party (PPP) has demanded that Pakistan Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry take suo motu notice of former Punjab governor Salmaan Taseer's murder case, just as he had taken the notice of the unarmed boy, Sarfaraz Shah's killing by Rangers in Karachi.
Punjab PPP Information Secretary Dr Fakharuddin Chaudhry said Chief Justice had directed the authorities to decide Shah's case without any delay taking into account the seriousness of the case.
But Taseer's case was pending with the court even though half of the year had lapsed.
He said that though Sarfaraz and Taseer's killings were not related to each other but both victims were innocent and killed by security personnel, the Daily Times reports.
Appreciating the political efforts of Salmaan Taseer for the nation and the party, he said Taseer was the PPP's asset who had sacrificed his life for the cause of democracy and religious harmony.
Chaudhary also paid tribute to Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani for conferring the 'Nishan-e-Imtiaz' on Taseer honouring his public service. (ANI)
