Fatwa issued in Abu Dhabi against fasting Muslims using bad languages

Dubai, Sun, 14 Aug 2011 ANI

Dubai, Aug 14 (ANI): Fasting Muslims should avoid bad manners or using bad languages during the month of Ramadan because it diminishes its benefits, a new fatwa issued in Abu Dhabi has claimed.

According to the fatwa issued by General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments (GAIAE) in Abu Dhabi, the reason of fasting is to attain fear of Allah, and therefore, the almighty is not in need of people who do not abide by these guidelines.

"One who does not abandon evil talk and actions, then Allah is not in need of him abandoning his food and drink [ie his fasting]," Gulf News quoted the fatwa, as saying.

A fasting Muslim can actually defeat someone who accuses him simply by saying: "I am fasting," it said, adding that by this act, he will know that the one who is fasting has not responded, not because of any weakness, but because of piety and fear of Allah.

A fasting person must be patient and persevering, not allowing these conflicting issues to affect him regardless of how he feels inside, the fatwa added. (ANI)
