Washington, August 6 (ANI): A team of US archaeologists has found a wreckage of ship in Panama, which according to them, is part of Pirate Captain Henry Morgan's vessel.

The wreckage included approximately 52x22 feet of the starboard side of a 17th century wooden ship hull, numerous unopened cargo boxes and chests encrusted in coral.

Morgan had lost five ships, including his flagship 'Satisfaction' near Lajas Reef in 1671.

The Captain Morgan Rum Group named after the pirate, provided further aid for the project after team, which found a collection of iron cannons, ran short of funds.

The new funding allowed the team to undertake a magnetometer survey, which unearthed the artifacts.

"When the opportunity arose for us to help make this discovery mission possible, it was a natural fit for us to get involved. The artifacts uncovered during this mission will help bring Henry Morgan and his adventures to life in a way never thought possible," Fox News quoted Captain Morgan (USA) Brand Director Tom Herbst, as saying.

Artifacts will remain the property of the Panamanian government and be preserved and displayed by the Patronato Panama Viejo.(ANI)
